In computing, one of the most important things is space to store… well, stuff. And I don’t think you will have to worry about that for a long time because Seagate just went batshit with their lines of SSDs. They just released a whooping 60TB SAS SSD! Dubbed the Seagate 60TB SSD. Let’s look at what all that space means; with this, you can store:
- 12,000 DVD movies
- 400 million photos on a typical social media platform.
Now, tell me that will not more than suffice for an everyday user. But here’s the thing, it was not designed for a typical everyday user.
CATEGORY OF PEOPLE THE SEAGATE 60TB SSD IS MEANT FOR
This kind of space would be overkill if a guy who does nothing more than surf the web and play a few video games and perhaps a few hours of movies decides to get it. But for a small to medium sized everyday company, this is a dream come true. Why? They could easily get two or three SSDs, right? Afterall, they are a meduim scale company. Well, we’ll get to the reason in a minute. On the flip side, power users or hobbyists could decide to get this; because they need more space to store their – only God knows what they store. Let’s get into the perks of the Seagate 60TB SSD.
WHY THE SEAGATE 60TB SSD CLAIMS TO BE BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION
According to the sales pitch by the company – Seagate, this particular storage drive has twice the density and four times the storage capacity as the next highest capacity SSD available today. It also features the lowest cost per gigabyte for flash available.
Of course I would have asked if you need something like the Seagate 60TB SSD, but of course, you are just a regular noob like the next guy. But if you are interested in getting this super flash device, it will be available in 2017. There is nothing more precise than that currently. Pricing is also a mystery for now.
There are also speculations that the Seagate 60TB SSD is a possible predecessor to the Seagate 100TB SSD which is due in the not so distant future. You can read the full details on the Seagate 60TB SSD here.
