When choosing a mobile device, one of the many things people tend to look out for is the RAM size; if you don’t know what RAM is or what it does in a computer(phones included), a little googling should help you. So, most phones have RAM sizes ranging from 256MB to 4GB; until recently when a Chinese company went all out to create a mobile device with a whooping 6GB of RAM! Most people might argue that a larger RAM does not necessarily mean better performance and I agree(mostly) but c’mon, 6GB of RAM?! that’s a rare feat folks.
Lemme go into details here; but first a few pictures:
Simply put, if a Samsung galaxy S6 edge and and iPhone 6 had a baby, this would be it!
The Vivo Xplay 5 Elite is a beauty and a beast 😉
The features that first hit me(apart from the unusual RAM size) are:
- It’s sleek,
- thin,
- has a double edge curved display
- and a fingerprint sensor.
These alone make it a great device; coupled with the other features, it’s a beast of a device(at least on paper). Other specs include:
- A 16MP back-facing camera with a dual-tone LED flash (for you photophiles: an f/2.0 aperture and a 6P lens)
- An 8MP front facing camera
- 126GB internal storage (Non-expandable)
- Runs Android 5.1 Lollipop
- A 3,600mAh battery
- Pricing:CNY 4,288 (Roughly $659)
- Release date: March 8, 2016
But you know what they say, everything has two sides to it. Now the spoiler:
There is a chance it won’t leave China. Yes, it is a chinko phone and they might as well hang on to their device… Even though it’s a damn good one.
What do you think of a 6GB RAM phone? Gimmick, phony or what we need right now. Let us know in the comment section below and stay tuned for updates.
