So, Google got it this time with the new Google Duo letting go of all the complexity they normally attach to their apps and I am so sure that why this video calling app will rock! Just few days after it release it has recorded over 1 Million downloads and currently sits on Google Play Store Top Chart at 20th position.
Now there has been some rumours about the chart been manipulated by Google since they own Play Store but what I will say is that the feedback from users who actually downloaded the Google Duo and are using it; are giving awesome reviews, feedback about the app.
What is The Difference Between Google Hangout and Google Duo ?
It quiet simple when looking at it because the Google Hangout which was released much earlier had lots of complexity and this was the reason why it did not go viral like that of Google Duo. For example, you do not need a google account before you can use the Google Duo to call someone unlike that of Google Hangout; That complexity is totally gone.
Google Duo is Similar to WhatsApp
Yea, much more similar. We can call it the video version of WhatsApp because in whatsapp there is no complex registration. All you have to do is download the app get it installed and register using your phone Number just like that of WhatsApp.
Now the people you will be able to call their contacts stored on your device that have Google Duo installed on their phones, just like WhatsApp.
Is Google Duo A FaceTime Killer?
Apparently Yes!! for a while now Android users have always been jealous of the iOS FaceTime feature which ONLY allows the iOS devices to call themselves in real time but well The Google Duo does not have respect for the operating System your phone has, as the Google Duo is available for both Android and iOS. That same OS limitation has been broken by the entry of Google Duo into the Market.
So it is perfectly normal to see iOS users calling Android users using the Google Duo, this has created food for the mouth for those who have always wanted to video call with other OS Platforms.
We are also expecting applications such as Skype, Viber, IMO to have a reduced usage from Platforms (Android, iOS) such as this because Google Duo is Taking Over.
